Affordable Flea Prevention for Multiple Pet Owners

I am a 100% animal lover, and if anyone needed proof, my three dogs, two ferrets and two hermit crabs can attest to that. With the warm weather season, it is not hard for the dogs to catch fleas while playing outside and then coming into the house and spreading it to the ferrets.

Me, being the cheap-skate, broke college student that I am, I will shop for only what I can afford. I quickly found out that cheap $4.99 flea and tick shampoo at the local supermarket was not going to get rid of my quick growing flea infestation.

To make matters worse, my largest, furriest dog, Oso was allergic to the flea bites so we took him to the Veterinarian. On top of the Vet giving me anti-biotics, he suggested I buy a tube of Frontline…for each dog.

$17 x 3 dogs = A LOT OF MONEY!

Social Networking Sites

Since their introduction, social network sites (SNSs) such as MySpace, Facebook, Cyworld, and Bebo have attracted millions of users, many of whom have integrated these sites into their daily practices. As of this writing, there are hundreds of SNSs, with various technological affordances, supporting a wide range of interests and practices. While their key technological features are fairly consistent, the cultures that emerge around SNSs are varied. Most sites support the maintenance of pre-existing social networks, but others help strangers connect based on shared interests, political views, or activities. Some sites cater to diverse audiences, while others attract people based on common language or shared racial, sexual, religious, or nationality-based identities. Sites also vary in the extent to which they incorporate new information and communication tools, such as mobile connectivity, blogging, and photo/video-sharing. (via)

Free Publicity For Your Own Blog With Memes

A meme (pronounced /miːm/) consists of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. Examples include thoughts, ideas, theories, practices, habits, songs, dances and moods and terms such as race, culture, and ethnicity. Memes propagate themselves and can move through a “culture” in a manner similar to the behavior of a virus. As a unit of cultural evolution, a meme in some ways resembles a gene. (Source: Wikipedia)

Dieting On The Web For FREE

A few month’s back when I decided to go on a diet I turned to Weight Watchers. I was still stuck catching up on bills and such so joining Weight Watcher’s was a mere luxury expense and as much as I wanted to try it, I knew I couldn’t afford it.

For an online account to track foods eaten and Weight Watchers Points would be about $30 or more a month. Not to mention, if you are using a Firefox browser, the entire WeightWatchers.com site does not support it and there was no way I was going back to Internet Explorer (but that’s a whole other issue.)

Crest Spin Brush Pro

A few weeks ago after a dental cleaning appointment, it was apparent to them that I was still not brushing efficiently enough for their standards. I’ve always had this problem since childhood. It was not so much a problem of what I ate, it was just how I was brushing, and with my hectic schedule I tended to rush through the teeth brushing process and miss spots here and there that needed more attention.

They suggested I get an electric toothbrush. It sounded expensive, but after I left the dentist’s office I decided to go price some and see what kind of investment I would be making by getting an electric toothbrush.

Sonic Electric Toothbrush: Priced between $110-$150

CVS Brand Electric Toothbrush: $49.99

I even surfed online to find a cheaper deal but it was much worse:

Last March on my birthday, I became a new ferret owner, a few months later I adopted another ferret from the humane society.

I already have three dogs so with the hot weather came a flea infestation among all the dogs, which sooner than later spread to the ferrets.

They obviously don’t make Frontline or any other flea preventative for exotic animals (at least none that I know of!) so I searched online for pet stores that sold flea and tick spray targeted towards my exotic babies.
